For authentic Balinese food in an elegant setting, look no further than Salon Bali.

Nestling in Hotel Indigo on Seminyak’s famous Double Six Beach, this is where Western-style luxury and polished service meet the warmth and traditions of Bali. In fact, every diner is welcomed with a rahajeng wenghi greeting.

The menu is a love letter to the fresh herbs and vibrant spices that flourish on the island. Expect locally-sourced ingredients that reflect the seasons, beautifully reimagined and presented in a way that is guaranteed to delight your instagram following.

The menu is organised into light dishes, mains and desserts. It evolves regularly but recent crowd pleasers have included oyster with scorched chilli, red snapper with tangy fermented cabbage and a sophisticated smoked coconut dessert with lashings of warm chocolate sauce. We’ll take two…

Not only do they boast one of the largest wine cellars in Seminyak, they also serve sensational cocktails. Their team of ‘Balixologists’ specialise in unusual pours such as Bali coffee spiked with arak and served warm.

Visit now, but don’t blame us if you find yourself forking out for plane tickets back to Bali just to revisit this restaurant. Its seamless blend of fabulous food and seductive sophistication is difficult to beat.

Outstanding Dining
When every review is so high for a restaurant there is a tendency for the diner to be sceptical. We were so pleased though that we did choose Salon. We had a fabulous meal at half the cost, if not better, than a comparable Melbourne or Sydney restaurant. Salon is inside the impressive Indigo Hotel in Seminyak. It is not in the heart of Seminyak, rather on the Legian side of Seminyak. The signage in the hotel does not make it easy to find. Entrance is down stairs behind reception.
The restaurant is small and very comfortable. The service was personable in the best sense of the word. Some of the very best we have had in dining in Bali’s better restaurants. We were the only diners at 6:30, others trickled in over the evening, this sometime results in a dining experience being ruined by too fast a service. Not at Salon. The courses came at just the right pace.
We sat outside on a steamy morning, on the edge of a small garden. Lovely spot for a romantic meal.
We opted not to have the degustation, but chose to design our own. We had one of every small plate each, shared two mains, shared two desserts and we were given 3 other small plates and a dessert complimentary. It makes it ridiculously good value dining! For drinks as it was a humid night we skipped the wine and went with Radlers over ice. These actually went well with the food. The cuisine is Balinese / Indonesian re interpreted and modernised. Everything we ate was either very good or excellent. We particularly enjoyed the complimentary Sambal on crackers, made at the table, the super oyster, the scallop, the quail and the beef that looks like charcoal. The desserts were fabulous too. The Es Cendol was a show stopper and was very enjoyable, not being overly sugared. The mains were very good but we enjoyed the small plates more. The Duck was cooked perfectly but was little firm to the bite. The signature 48 hour cooked rib was highly enjoyable but it is not a fall off the bone style. Overall, a fantastic meal at fantastic value. It is a little out of the way to get to but we will be returning when next in Bali as it was the best value and eating fine dining dinner we have had in Bali!

Don’t even know where to start! The most amazing experience from the second we arrived, the service here is impressive to say the least. We were looked after by Eddie and Minnie and just the service it’s self was above and beyond anything we have ever seen. We tried so many things from the menu and it was all spectacular- the scallops and oysters were amazing! This is an absolute must when in Bali and I cannot wait to go again on our next visit
