Led by the culinary legend, Chris Salans, Spice is serving modern, ethically sourced Indonesian plates to all the hipsters and foodies in Bali.

Whether you're looking for a night of culinary theatre or a relaxed supper for two, Spice has it all. Sit at the bar opposite their open kitchen for a dazzling performance of culinary expertise by Chris and his team. Or, sit in their open-plan dining room, surrounded by a glass wall that lets in every inch of natural light. Needless to say, it serves as an excellent people-watching spot!

With all ingredients sourced from local markets and farmers, you couldn't get fresher, tastier food. Whet the appetite with their delicate starters that fuse Western cooking with traditional Indonesian flavours. Take their beef rendang and chicken betutu croquettes for example; a crunchy celebration of two totally different cuisines! And why not opt for a European favourite like beef carpaccio or go full Asian with their bangkuang dumplings.

The mains include delicious seafood offerings, like a pan-seared barramundi and tempura soft shell crab laksa. Alternatively, warm up with their beef brisket broth or get really stuck in to their sticky pork ribs and braised beef that's marinated in authentic rendang spices. And with a cocktail menu designed around fine, imported liqueurs, fresh spices and a touch of sparkle, round off your evening with one of their signature cocktails that are playful as well as tasty. Maybe too tasty.... Dragon Wine, anyone?

We are fans of Chris Salans and his team. Lunch didn’t disappoint. While the alacarte menu was tempting we went with the four course signature menu. Each dish was carefully constructed, beautifully presented and provided and gave an interesting twist on traditional Balinese flavours. Desert was a highlight but not surprising when you go to a restaurant run by Chef Chris. He is one of the best in Bali. Loved it.
