Sparking a new love and appreciation for Mediterranean eats in Ubud, Embers balances beautiful European flavours with all the enchantment of the sacred Monkey Forest.
Where natural beauty is celebrated in all its forms, Embers makes a statement through restrained elegance, an eye for detail and expert feng shui that breathes new, reaffirming life through the space. As well as woods in smooth browns and charcoals, tropical plants are placed in such a way that they brighten up and revive corners in the dining room. A contemporary treehouse of sorts, Embers is stoking the fire from the offset.
For the menu, we're travelling thousands of miles from this tropical wonderland to the dramatic coastline of the Mediterranean. For starters, local ingredients like red snapper are whipped into a delicate Crudo and served with twinkling pomegranate gems, wagyu tenderloin is turned into a delicate carpaccio and burnt eggplant is the talk of the town with heaps of garlic, mint and freshly baked flatbread.
As for mains, Mediterranean gastronomy steps up a notch with crispy barramundi served with truffled green peas and a lobster foam, seared duck breast alongside Lebanese rice and pineapple chutney and striploin wagyu nestled next to truffled mash and crunchy asparagus. And for something really exotic, you couldn't do better than the ras el hanout lamb shank that revels in smoky paprika, dried prunes and crispy eggplant. Has your Mediterranean love affair been reignited? Then this one's for you!
