Bringing indigenous Indonesian cooking back to the foreground, Liap Liap combines ancient traditions of grilling and smoking to deliver an archipelago-inspired menu that is wholly unique.
The whole establishment immerses itself in Indonesia's colourful past. Combining natural materials with inviting textures and earthy colours, Liap Liap is rustic and comforting. Bold patterns are set against wicker lanterns, rattan carpets lay under worn tables and tribal fabrics create the perfect backdrop for an authentic and immersive dining experience.
The menu serves as a reminder of where the diverse Indonesian cuisine we know and love today has come from. Start low and slow with a soup that packs a flavoursome punch like the Soto Ayam with turmeric chicken broth or Surabaya style beef soup with keluwek broth and bean sprouts. Enjoy these nourishing spoonfuls alongside some signature gyoza, smoked octopus or a couple of skewers if you think your appetite can take it.
For mains, the smoker and griller really come into play with showstoppers like the house-smoked skipjack tuna, the Black Angus ribeye with smoky red chimichurri and succulent lamb chops with pickled vegetables. Next comes the Jimbaran-style grill which is responsible for some of the best seafood on the island. Squid, prawns and tuna are grilled to perfection and served with assorted sambal, making for a supremely fresh and vibrant feast that is Indonesian to its core.
